Our Story
hudson river studio
Working on one of the earliest warehouse loft conversions in what became SOHO in NYC, David was captivated by the wide-open floor plans, expansive windows filled with natural light, high ceilings, and exposed plumbing, electrical & HVAC. Before this “brutalist,” contemporary design of exposing connections became commonplace, David instantly was captivated and never forgot how well the aesthetic resonated with his own.
After finding the perfect site on Georgia’s Hudson River, Jeanne and David began their once-in-a-lifetime experience to design and build a loft home along the river. David incorporated his fascination with open planning to create a place he and Jeanne thrive and are inspired.
During the seven years of design and construction, Jeanne and David envisioned what life would look like when the river home was the couple’s full-time residence. Today, three common themes remain a priority: feeding a desire to be creative, maximizing time with family & friends, and making a difference in the community.
Before settling in their loft-home along the river, David and Jeanne lived in Emory Grove where they undertook countless renovations to create a unique home. Before landing in Atlanta, they traveled across the US and lived in four different states. Each move was a reflection of the evolution of David’s skills and talent in the fast-paced trade show industry. Living in different places allowed the couple to make friends all over the country, and once a year, Jeanne and David take a road trip to visit friends in New Mexico, California, Iowa, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. When they are in Atlanta, they spend time with their four grown children and four granddaughters.
DAVID PECK
In the early 1970’s, David’s workshop was an open, three-sided shed in Roswell, New Mexico, and after working for four decades in the trade show industry, his shop today is also outside and located along Georgia’s Hudson River.
Throughout David’s career, he’s had the good fortune to work with extremely talented woodworkers and metal craftsmen. This experience paired with David’s passion for Japanese interiors and Shaker furnishings informs his elegant design solutions.
JEANNE PECK
For more than four decades, Jeanne has created beaded jewelry. She loves every aspect of this art. Sourcing pretty materials, designing pieces, learning new techniques, and most of all, attending art festivals to see people fall in love with her creations.
As Founder of Hudson River Studio, Jeanne leads client services, manages the business, and provides project management services for David’s design work to ensure every collaboration is enjoyable, successful, and results in beautiful outcomes.
In addition, Jeanne is a highly-sought after relationship development consultant. She spent more than 35 years focused on strategic team building, thoughtful culture forming activities, and project pursuits in the architecture/engineering/construction industry.
